News » Dairy Products Do Not Promote Weight Loss
Contrary to advertising claims by the dairy industry, neither calcium nor dairy product intake will help you lose weight.
In the May 2008 issue of Nutrition Reviews, researchers looked at the results of 49 clinical trials from 1966 to 2007. These studies analyzed whether dairy products or calcium intake affected body weight and body mass index (BMI).
Of the 49 clinical trials, only 5 resulted in weight loss.
Forty-one showed no difference in body weight and BMI when dairy products or calcium intake increased.
In 2 trials, the participants actually gained weight. And the final trial resulted in a lower rate of weight gain.
Milk may do a body good, but apparently, it doesn’t help much with weight loss.
