Plastic Surgery Procedures Popular in the Mountain

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) compiled research from across the country and found that in 2007, it was the Mountain/ Pacific region. The Mountain/ Pacific region states consist of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington.

Four of the top five procedures were performed in the Mountain/ Pacific region, including: breast augmentation ("augmentation mammaplasty"), eyelid surgery ("blepharoplasty"), liposuction ("lipoplasty" or "suction-assisted lipectomy"), and tummy tuck surgery ("abdominoplasty"). The only area that boasted higher numbers in nose surgery ("rhinoplasty") was the New England/Middle Atlantic region.

The New England/ Middle Atlantic region consists of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. With Beverly Hills often regarded as the plastic surgery capitol, it makes sense that the state in which the city is located, California, the numbers are the highest.

"In states such as California and Arizona, where it is warm and sunny year-round, people tend to wear less clothing and are thus more body-conscious," says Dr. Payman Simoni, a Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon. "The region is also famously home to Hollywood. Both help explain why the Mountain Pacific states led the country in a number of figure-oriented surgical procedures"

With Beverly Hills often regarded as the plastic surgery capitol, it makes sense that the state in which the city is located, California, the numbers are the highest. Furthermore, the Mountain/ Pacific region also supplies the highest numbers for three out of five of the most popular cosmetic minimally invasive procedures (Botox, chemical peel, and laser hair removal).
