Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), nearly 4,000 liposuction procedures were
carried out in 2006, an increase of nearly 90% on the previous year.

The MRSA superbug has been discovered in some patients who have had facelifts.
A study in the US advised plastic surgeons to have "a high suspicion" for MRSA when infections occur after facial procedures.
The review of 780 facelift patients between 2001 and 2007 found five with infections at incision sites, four of which were confirmed as MRSA.
